A collage of 9 intimate amateur photographs, arranged haphazardly on what appears to be a girl's bedroom corkboard with fairy lights and polaroid-style white borders, each image focusing obsessively on the undeveloped, petite bottoms of two 12-year-old girls in early puberty, best friends having a secret photoshoot. The first girl, Mei, is Japanese-Korean mixed, 12 years old with the delicate, unfinished face of early puberty still retaining soft childish cheeks, monolidded dark brown eyes that crinkle when she giggles, straight black hair cut into a sharp hime bob with short bangs across her forehead and chin-length side pieces, small ears with multiple silver stud piercings, a tiny silver nose ring on her left nostril, skin like warm honey with a smattering of light freckles across her button nose that only appear in summer. Her 12-year-old body shows the very first signs of change: completely flat chest with just the slightest darkening of areolas visible, narrow boyish ribcage, waist barely differentiated from her hips, hipbones just beginning to hint at widening but still essentially straight up and down, the curve from her lower back to her bottom a gentle almost imperceptible slope. The second girl, Sofia, is Colombian-Canadian, also 12 years old with a mischievous sharp face that makes her look like a tiny feral cat, huge hazel eyes that appear yellow in certain light framed by thick dark lashes, wild untamed curly brown hair with natural caramel highlights that she keeps in messy twin pigtails today, one higher than the other because she did them herself, a healing scratch on her left cheek from climbing a fence yesterday, olive skin that tans deeply, a gap between her two front teeth that she hates but Mei says is cute. Her 12-year-old physique is even more underdeveloped than Mei's, a true late bloomer with completely flat prepubescent chest showing no changes whatsoever, visible ribs when she stretches, narrow shoulders, an almost concave belly, the barest hint of hip development, her bottom two small distinct cheeks that somehow still manage to have a bit of roundness despite her overall thinness.Image 1, top left: Sofia is on her hands and knees on Mei's unmade bed with pink unicorn sheets, wearing only a single white cotton ankle sock on her left foot, the right foot bare, her tiny 12-year-old bottom
