Upload and Use a LoRA

A LoRA is a small model add-on that can influence a character, style, or concept. It must match the model family you use to generate. A LoRA made for SDXL will not work as a Flux or video LoRA. Check the community LoRA library before importing a copy of one that is already available.

Before you import

  1. Check the model page's base model and choose the matching family in Dopamine Girl. The upload form lists the families currently supported, including image families and separate video families for Wan 2.2, LTX 2.3, and MiniMax H3.
  2. Check the exact file and version. The supported format is .safetensors. A CivitAI model page can contain several versions for different base models, so choose the intended version before copying its link.
  3. Make sure you have permission to use the LoRA and the source is public if you plan to import it from CivitAI.
  4. Check the pricing page and the price shown in the upload form. Importing a LoRA uses credit.

Import a file or CivitAI version

Open Upload LoRA and select Upload.

  1. Choose the Model Family that matches the LoRA's base model.
  2. Enter a LoRA Name using 6–40 letters, numbers, or underscores.
  3. Choose the method offered for that family:
    • Upload File: select a .safetensors file up to 400 MB. This is available for image LoRA families.
    • CivitAI URL: paste a public CivitAI model page or download URL. The selected safetensors file must be under 700 MB. If the page has several versions, include the version you want in the URL.
  4. Submit and wait for the item to finish processing. The page shows its status. A failed task is not ready for generation.

Wan 2.2, LTX 2.3, and MiniMax H3 video LoRAs use the CivitAI URL method in the current form. Video model families are distinct: for example, a Wan LoRA does not work with MiniMax H3. For Wan image-to-video, check that the version is a high-noise LoRA; that is the variant the current Wan workflow applies to user-selected LoRAs.

Use it in a generation

Open the matching image or video tool, select its base model, and choose Add LoRA. Pick your LoRA from your library or the community, then adjust its weight if needed. Start near the default weight and change it gradually; strong weights can overwhelm the prompt or create artifacts.

The image generator no longer accepts <lora:name:weight> inside prompt text. Select LoRAs in the LoRA section so the chosen file and weight are actually used. If the LoRA is unavailable, first check the model family, processing status, and whether the item is enabled.

For a face-swap LoRA and its specific input order, see the Face Swap Guide. For H3 video LoRAs, see the MiniMax H3 Guide.
